Tuina clinic
Today... several children with infantile paralysis (?) came in, more then usual it seems. One little girl (3 years old, quite beautiful) cannot move one side of her face. When she is at rest she looks completely normal but a smile or laugh twists her face into a scowl. Dr. Xiao works just on her face (the paralyzed side), using a very light vibration and pressing into some areas. She also started going to the acupuncture clinic this week. I cannot see it myself, but her parents and Dr. Xiao have (independently) said she has improved a lot.
Another little boy (less then a year old) is almost unable to move himself about. His mouth hangs open and his eyes are sometimes blank, sometimes aware.
The factory owner came in again today. I asked about his back and he said it is fine, and that he was coming in to keep it that way. He likes a very strong massage on his back, which I supplied, using my forearm and elbows almost exclusively. Dr. Xiao was telling him that he has been coming for two months, which is the length of time he recommended for this man's particular problem. I'm not sure what Dr. Xiao's intent was... perhaps telling him he shouldn't come again?
The lady doing continued training who was working on him with me impressed me with her sequence... she was working on her legs and did some movement exercises I hadn't seen before. I usually just work until somebody tells me to stop... must learn how much time to spend on each movement etc.
I got a little bit of massage from the other students, pretty nice but too light. I gave Li Ke a shoulder/neck massage and he confirmed that the upanddowntheneck technique was comfortable and effective.
